BACKGROUND

Elisa joined the firm as an associate in 2014 after practicing law for five years in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Elisa graduated Summa Cum Laude from Jacksonville University, in Jacksonville, Florida, with a Bachelor of Science in History in 2001.  Elisa received her Juris Doctor in 2008 from Loyola University College of Law, New Orleans, Louisiana, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.  While at law school, Elisa was a Casenote/Comment Editor of the Loyola Law Review, served as a Moot Court Staff member, and received numerous scholarships and awards including the Professor William L. Crowe, Sr. Scholar Award and Law Excellence Awards in International Law, Secured Obligations, Torts II, and Criminal Law. Before graduation from law school, Elisa served as a judicial intern to Justice Jeanette Theriot Knoll of the Louisiana Supreme Court and volunteered with the Loyola College of Law’s Hurricane Katrina clinic.  Elisa also worked as a research assistant to Gerard Rault, Jr. on the Handbook on the Louisiana Code of Evidence.

Upon graduation, Elisa worked as a litigation associate with the prestigious New Orleans law firm of Schonekas, Evans, McGoey & McEachin, LLC.  Her Louisiana practice included various areas of civil litigation, including construction, insurance coverage, breach of contract, and tort claims, in Louisiana state and federal district and appellate courts.  Elisa also gained experience in the area of white collar criminal defense and defense of defendants under the Criminal Justice Act.

In 2013, Elisa and her family returned to Florida and, since her husband is a Vero Beach native, gladly made Vero Beach their home.  Elisa passed the July 2013 Florida Bar Exam and her Contracts essay answer was selected for use in the Florida Board of Bar Examiners’ semiannual Study Guide and Selected Answers.  Elisa’s pro bono work includes representing children in need as a Court-appointed Attorney Ad Litem.
